Based on a true story. Colorado Territory 1863. As Confederate soldiers push toward the gold fields, pioneers seek new land, and displaced Indians rampage, Silas Soule, a battled-hardened Union Captain, vastly outnumbered, rides into the heart of Indian country to rescue four white children held captive. In return, he agrees to take the Chiefs to discuss a peace treaty with his superiors in Denver, only to discover they want to exterminate the Indians, not smoke a peace pipe with them. Silas brokers peace with a band of Cheyenne, until his commander sabotages the effort, massacres them, and calls it a ‘glorious battle.” Arrested for refusing to fire at the Indians, Silas is determined to tell the truth of what really happened regardless of the consequences.
